Intercultural ensemble playing 960 1440 Eleanna Pitsikaki - Qanun Music Artist

How can different musical worlds be combined in ensemble playing without losing vitality, richness, and authenticity? This workshop offers practical answers to this question.

The course is aimed at amateur musicians and music teachers who are curious and open to exploring unknown musical worlds, expanding their horizons through cross-genre ensemble playing. All acoustic instruments, including percussion, are welcome. The focus is on learning traditional and modern songs from regions in Southeastern and Western Asia.

The instructor will demonstrate how traditional material can be creatively and improvisationally developed. Participants will explore musical nuances, embellishments, and variations of traditional and popular pieces. Tips on musical interpretation and improvisation will complete the workshop. Both ear training and sheet music will be used.

The workshop invites participants to enjoy making music together and discover the fascinating soundscapes of different cultures. By combining diverse music styles, it creates an inspiring exchange, where the universal language of music comes to life. Musicians from different backgrounds will come together to learn from each other, explore new sound worlds, and experience the unifying power of collective music-making – a space where boundaries disappear, and cultural diversity is celebrated in its most beautiful form.

Please bring your own instruments and specify your instrument and musical experience when registering!

The workshop is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
