In its second encounter, the Berlin Trickster Orchestra’s trans-traditional music laboratory explores aspects of collectivity and care in musical work processes together with guests from the fields of music, science, and society. Working in a trans-traditional manner requires that individuals in the heterogeneous, globally composed ensemble feel safe and comfortable sharing and reflecting on facets of their biographies and musical journeys. For this trust to emerge, the collective must foster a high level of multidirectional sensitivity and connectedness.

How can an appreciative exchange at eye level be achieved—one in which something new emerges from a diversity of experiences, plural knowledge forms, and multiply intertwined subjectivities, without sacrificing individual dimensions?

The Trickster Orchestra’s trans-traditional music laboratory is a public, experimental, and forward-looking work process that invites the audience to witness it live from the very beginning. With a rotating cast of guests, the orchestra embarks on an artistic research journey with an uncertain outcome, presenting its latest insights and musical experiments on trans-traditional contemporary music practice in workshop concerts.
